On Thursday we took a train to Florence. We walked up the duomo - over 250 steps I would estimate. Other things we did was to go to Boboli Gardens and the Uffizi gallery. The Uffizi was very cool, we got to see the Birth of Venus and lots of other famous artworks.
On the day we were scheduled to leave, me and my family were walking around one last time when we came upon a leather store. My dad rang the bell (there was a sign asking us to) and an Italian lady answered the door, and we went in. She told my dad that she did not speak english, and they communicated a little in spanish. She told my dad that everything inside was hand-made. It was amazing. She showed us a big sheet of leather before she makes it into a bag. There were sewing machines and lots of thread. There were lots of leather purses for sale. Then she told us that they also make clothes and invited us upstairs. Her assistant was making a dress. They showed us the sketches and the plans for the dress. Aren't they nice?
Then, she showed us how they make a tiny model dress to help them figure out what the dress will look like. It was small, and cute!
There is also a sketch of the beadwork. She was stitching in the beads when we came. It looked very complicated!
She told us that they were going to make a matching bracelet for the dress.
They were very nice to show us around, and show us all their plans and let us take pictures! Here is a picture of them:
