CommonSenseMedia.org

I often use this website before we rent a movie, just to have a quick preview of what to expect and to see if it's appropriate or not for the kids. They offer reviews of kid's movies, dvd's, books, website and video games. Or, if you are looking for ideas, you can browse by recommended age group and see what you can find.

Each review include ratings for educational value, role models, violence and scariness, bad language, consumerism, alcohol and drugs, and sexuality. It offers a "What Parents Need to Know" section that gives a detailed summary of the item, and well as a talking points section for ideas of things to talk about with your kids. It sure beats renting a kid's video and having to watch it the whole way through ahead of time, or winging it and being unpleasantly surprised while watching it with them...
